Kamm Washington, an outfielder from Park Vista High School, left the Florida baseball team roughly a week ago and plans to transfer.

His mother, Cheryl Washington, said he has several possibilities as he looks for a new school.

“He left on his own free will,” she said. “It was not a good fit.”

A spokesperson for the Gators baseball program said only that Washington is not with the team in Hoover, Ala., for this week’s SEC Tournament.

Washington was not available for comment.

Park Vista baseball coach Larry Greenstein said he heard rumors of Washington’s situation, but had “no idea” what was true.

Washington was a sophomore this season and batted .284 with a home run and eight RBIs. He played in 33 of Florida’s 56 games, starting 18 times.

As a freshman, Washington hit .308 in 27 games before a hamstring injury ended his season.
